Endovascular Stent Graft

Category Endovascular Stent Graft

Endovascular transplantation is a minimally invasive method of treating an aortic aneurysm. Instead of open aneurysm repair, which involves surgically opening the chest/abdomen, your surgeon may consider a procedure called endovascular aneurysm repair. In addition to EVAR, your doctor may also refer to the procedure as thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair or fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair, depending on the type of repair involved.

Endovascular surgery is performed on the aorta, using long, thin tubes called catheters to place a stent covered with a fabric coating to reinforce weak spots. You may be eligible for an endovascular stent if your aneurysm has not ruptured and the aneurysm is 5 centimeters or larger.
