Thrombolytic Therapy

In thrombolytic therapy, drugs are given through an IV or catheter to stop blood clots. This treatment can reduce the damage caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or stroke. It also treats blood clots associated with DVT and PAD. Anticoagulant therapy is usually successful in treating blood clots, but additional surgery may be needed to treat the underlying cause.
