When a blood clot develops in one of the body's deep veins, it is known as deep vein thrombosis or DVT. This may occur if a vein is harmed or if the blood flow within it lessens or ceases. While there are several risk factors for having a DVT, the two most frequent ones are a lower-body injury and surgery on the hips or legs. A DVT may result in detrimental effects. A blood clot that escapes the body could enter the bloodstream and obstruct blood flow to the lungs. The pulmonary embolism consequence is uncommon, but it can be lethal. A blood clot may harm the heart valves permanently even if it does not break loose.
